Susan Wake - Finger Lakes Artist
Susan Wake is a natural artist who's work has grown tremendously since picking up a brush thirteen years ago. Her style is eclectic: she has been deemed a Folk Artist, a Fine Art Artist, a Historic Art Artist, a Story Telling Artist, and one of the finest Finger Lakes Artists.

Her work reflects her love of Western New York by virtue of her many landscapes and paintings of the Finger Lakes. She works in a number of mediums in both 2D and 3D employing acrylic, watercolor, pastel and oil to achieve her amazing results. She is detail conscious and completes her work in the European Style as noted by learned reviewers.

She calls upon her treasure trove of personal experiences garnered during her formative years. She grew up in the picturesque Victorian village of Island Heights, located at the Jersey Shore on the banks of the Toms River in New Jersey. Island Heights has been compared to Martha's Vineyard and is home to a number of notable artists including Peto.

Susan has reaped a number of awards and in 2010 was the recipient of the Artist Crossroads Grant to produce two mural sized paintings of two watershed historic events that occurred in the nineteenth century in the Finger Lakes. The project "THE SIGNS OF PAST TIMES" - was a traveling exhibit from July through December of 2010 at many public venues throughout our area. The paintings, as well as the accompanying text are now part of the permanent collection of the Howard Museum located in historical Howard, NY.

Publications include cover art for "The Waterside Weekly" and "The Courier". She has completed a number of private and pubic commissions exceeding her patrons expectations.

Susan was one of the intial cadre of artists to participate in The Palettes of Keuka, from the inception of the event until 2017. Susan has exhibited at the Hammondsport Art Show, Arts In Bloom 2016, 2014 & 2013 (Hornell Venue), The Harvest & Artist Market in Pulteney 2012, The Hornell Home Show, and the Steuben County Fair (2003 - 2017). She has had three solo art shows at Steuben Trust Headquarters in Hornell, NY, a solo show at the Dorman Library in Bath, NY and at The Hearing Center on Main Street in Hornell for the month of October 2015.
