The Palettes of Keuka is an annual event sponsored by the Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce in Hammondsport, NY. Susan has been a participating artist in the Palettes of Keuka for the first eleven years since it's inception.

Each year participating businesses sponsor an artist to create artwork on an oversized palette. The palettes are displayed throughout the summer months at participating businesses in the Hammondsport area. At the conclusion of the event, the palettes are sold at auction.

FIRST LIGHT- KEUKA Artist: Susan Wake

A painter with the Palettes of Keuka since it's inception, Susan is an award winning artist of the Finger Lakes. Her most recent award was in August 2017 where she won Best of Show at the Steuben County Fair, where she exhibited as a professional artist.

Susan draws inspiration from the beauty of Keuka Lake. "FIRST LIGHT- KEUKA" was born in the early morning hours on South Lake Road on the East Side looking north.

Raised in a resort community of Island Heights on the Jersey Shore, she experienced the beauty and solitude of being up at first light. As an adult, Keuka Lake in the early hours possesses the same beauty, the same peace and the same solitude. As night turns into day what we experience is only here for a moment, then the moment passes.
